Ribbonworld

I recently auditioned for the sci-fi novel Ribbonworld by Richard Dee, and to paraphrase Victor Kiam; I liked it so much, I bought the book! If you don’t know who Victor Kiam is and where that reference comes from, Google can provide the history behind it.

Anyway, for all you aspiring authors out there Mr. Dee also has a textbook on the topic of World Building that he has just released . After all if you have a story in mind that needs a world other than good old terra, then its up to you to create it, which is a pile of work to be sure. So, why not learn from someone whose been-there, done that. Richard Dee’s “Creating a Sci-fi world” is just the ticket. I have a couple of story ideas myself that may never see the light of day, but they need their own world; and so I also added that one to my library.

A Ribbonworld, according to Asimovfandom.com (and I can’t come up with a better explanation), “is a planet with a tidally locked rotation in which one side of the planet always faces the star that it orbits and another side that always faces away. The presumed result is a narrow band, or ribbon, that may be habitable”. Or at least barely habitable.

Ribbonworld the novel, is a murder mystery conspiracy who-done-it, a heck of a good read that will be an equally good listen. Oh, and just yesterday I was made an offer to produce Ribbonworld; so check out our coming soon page for the “back-of-the-book” text. I’ve already got the first chapter done, and am halfway through the second, and I’m looking forward to working with Mr. Dee to bring his book to life. All the best to everyone in 2020!
